Does the charter party contain a Jason Clause? Explain why? 10.        Is an address commission payable? To whom and based upon what? 11.        What about broker’s commission. By whom and based upon what? 12.        How is despatch payable under the charter party? Do you know what despatch is? 13.        When and where must the vessel’s Notice of Readiness be given at the loadport? 14.        How is the charter party’s freight clause structured? Is freight prepaid or collect? Is it guaranteed or contingent? When is freight deemed earned? 15.        Who is authorized to sign bills of lading issued under the charter party? Why will there usually be a bill of lading even though the charter party is the initial contract of carriage? 16.        When does laytime commence following tender of Notice of Readiness? 17.        Who pays for the costs of loading and discharging the vessel (note that there are various options available)? 18.        How much notice must owners give to charterers of the expected readiness to load date. What else must owners provide with the notice? 19.        May the charterers ask the vessel to lie safely aground at any time during the charter? 20.        Who has recommended the Norgrain 89 for use? 21.        When was this form first issued? When was it amended? 22.        The vessel is to load under whose inspection. What is the National Cargo Bureau (NCB)? 23.        How are fumigation expenses allocated under the charter party? Who is responsible for time lost due fumigation? 24.        How about cargo separation? Who pays for these?   25.        Under what circumstances is a deviation considered reasonable under the charter party? What kind of deviation is prima facie unreasonable?
